Simplified Voyage Data Recorder
S-VDR2000
Like the black boxes carried on aircraft, Voyage Data Recorders (VDR's) enable accident investigators to review procedures and instructions in the moments before an incident and help to identify its cause.
Design
The S-VDR2000 is designed to record and maintain a retrievable record of the ship 's nautical data. All data is stored in both the protective capsule (Simplified Voyage Recorder-SVR) and on the hard disk in the S-VDR2000. The stored data can be downloaded and analyzed for investigation purposes, training and simulation at any time.
Installation, Operation and Maintenance
The S-VDR2000 is easy to install, service and upgrade cutting down on
expensive and lengthy installation engineers costs. Atlantas Marine provides fully trained and Maris-approved engineers to complete the installation and commission the system for approval.
The S-VDR2000 is small in size with low weight and is maintenance free. With its automatic operation, the S-VDR200 requires no attention from shipboard personnel once fitted.
Protective Capsule
The SVDR is a two-piece design:A mounting base sub-assembly ,which is fastened directly to
the ship and a removable, hardened memory sub-assembly attached to the mounting base with a quick releasing v-band clamp. The SVDR has an externally mounted, under-water Location Beacon and is painted in a highly visible fluorescent orange with white reflective labels and SOLAS reflective tape containing the text:
VOYAGE DATA RECORDER. DO NOT OPEN. REPORT TO
