Over the past 2 years, the Ocean Modules V8 ROV has proved it self time and again inspecting offshore wind farms around the UK and Europe. This is typically a high current and low visibility environment which always makes ROV piloting difficult, however the V8 has stood up to the challenge. Its advanced control system gives it unrivaled stability and means that when the pilot thrusts against the current, all of his thrust is concentrated in the right direction.
Combined with Bowtech low light cameras, and BlueView imaging sonar to combat the poor visibility we have successfully carried out inspections over the entire LINCS wind farm.
Tasks included general visual inspection, Brattburg seal inspection, CP anode stabs and measuring J-tube angles. The inherent reliability of the system allowed for an entire 4 month campaign of constant ROV use with minimal infield maintenance.
Roy Ford (Centrica Energy) commented: “Centrica Energy (Renewables O&M) would like to thank Atlantas Marine for all the work and support provided to us during our wind turbine foundation subsea inspections campaign…..special thanks go to Charlie Foll and Paul Falloon for the management and ongoing support….we look forward to working with them in the future.”
