CAT BASIC / CAT ROT http://www.atlantasmarine.com/htm/product/details/ais_pilot_plug_tool The Marimatech CAT Basic is the world’s smallest battery-driven wireless AIS adapter with built-in GPS, built for Pilots. The unit is connected to the AIS pilot plug and sends AIS data to a PC or iPhone using Wi-Fi technology. This is a lightweight solution (450g) allowing pilots to easily access navigation data from the ship's GPS and gyro sensors and view it on a portable device to aid with navigation.

The CAT ROT is identical to the CAT Basic with a built-in ROT (Rate of Turn) sensor. This sensor will add decimal degrees to the Heading indication from the AIS Pilot Plug and provide reliable ROT. This means that prediction accuracy will be significantly enhanced; a very useful tool, normally only found in considerably more expensive pilot navigation systems.

The CAT Basic and CAT ROT deliver the AIS data to the Pilots PC in standard AIS format, so the Pilot may use any Piloting or navigation software to display the ships data.  Atlantas Marine offer the Marimatech 'E-Sea Guide Software' as an option.  E-Sea Guide is the software supplied with the more sophisticated 'E-sea Fix product range'. Esea Guide software is written by 7Seas, who are owned by the UKHO .

E-SEA FIX CAT II http://www.atlantasmarine.com/htm/product/details/e-sea_fix_cat_ii For the channel and harbour pilot who operate in confined and busy waters and ports, the CAT II will provide both a precise navigational tool and a berthing tool. Worldwide the CAT II category is the most used tool for harbour and channel navigation. With the unique options the E-Sea Guide software provides; berthing lines and a possibility for barometric survey overlays on the electronic chart the CAT II is used to turn vessels in limited spaces, or together with real-time tidal data shown on the pilots’ notebook, it can be used to bring deep draught vessels in at rising water. The CAT II provides heading data and makes the pilot completely
independent of the ships’ equipment.

The technology behind the CAT II:
CAT II is in the category where two GPS receivers and two antennas are combined to be able to measure heading. The technology is single frequency (L1), GPS, phase measurements and RTK (Real-Time Kinematic). Apart from the heading added this principle offers better position stability and better speed accuracy compared to CAT I. A built-in rate sensor makes the system robust in its overall performance. Differential corrections from EGNOS, WAAS and MSAS are standard and corrections from shore beacons are a feature that can be added.

  • General navigation
  • Accurate channel navigation (positioning)
  • Precise heading and ROT information
  • Precise speed information
  • Berthing tool (if a speed error of up to +/-2 cm/seconds can be tolerated)
  • Transponder functions via UHF, GPRS or UMTS
  • Reception of weather data, VTS targets and radar overlay
  • PPU, TDMA transponder functionality (Transmission of
  • own position).

E-SEA FIX CAT III http://www.atlantasmarine.com/htm/product/details/e-sea_fix_cat_iii The CAT III is a tool for a pilot performing the most challenging operations. It is extremely accurate and is now used as an alternative to laser docking systems. The CAT III is also a perfect tool for berthing very large ships such as VLCC’s or LNG tankers, precise positioning in docks and locks and for providing the highest reliability in unfriendly environments such as poor satellite coverage or when docking under cranes. The CAT III category is for instance used by the British Army for handling “dead” ships and submarines in confined waters with strong tides.

The technology behind the CAT III:
CAT III is the highest level in satellite positioning. Similar to CAT II it operates with two receivers to provide heading. CAT III is a dual frequency (L1 + L2) receiver, phase measurements and RTK. Accuracy is position jumps to centimetre and heading accuracy to 0.02 of a degree. These extreme accuracies allow us to make reliable prediction calculations. The E-Sea Fix CAT III also has motion sensors integrated that compensates for Heave, Pitch / or Roll and keep track of ROT (Rate Of Turn). These parameters are also essential for the prediction of accuracy end-result. The CAT III satellite receiver gets signal from not only GPS but also GLONASS and in future also GALLIEO. With this increase of available satellites the E-Sea Fix CAT III can operate under the most critical situations such as obstructions from cranes, bridges and ships own masts, antenna etc. ‘

  • Extremely precise position accuracy under all conditions
  • Ultra precise heading and ROT at any time
  • Precise speed information at any time
  • Berthing tool (2 to 4 times more accurate than CAT II) accuracy equal to laser system
  • Reception of VTS targets and radar overlay
  • PPU, TDMA transponder functionality (Transmission of own position).

Extension Tether http://www.atlantasmarine.com/htm/product/details/extension_tether No mission is impossible when you mix and match lengths and types of the VideoRay's tether to reach an underwater destination. Now you can choose from several combinations of neutrally buoyant or negatively buoyant tether lengths to suit the job at hand. Modular lengths of tether can be mixed and matched by simply locking in new sections. Snap on the short tether for a potable water tank inspection. Then switch in seconds to the extended tether for a deepwater application. the 3 types of tether available are described in more detail below - custom lengths are also available.

Performance Tether - 8mm diameter (standard length: 40m)

The performance tether is a thin and flexible, neutrally bouyant tether - ideal for shallow water work. When using long tether configurations we would normally start with a length of 40m performance tether at the ROV end because of the excellent flexibility and low drag characteristics. This tether has higher power losses than the other types of tether, so is normally supplied in short lengths.

Neutral Tether - 10mm diameter (standard length: 76m)

Flexible, neutrally buoyant tether. This is the standard tether on many VideoRay systems. The thicker diameter wires mean there is less power drop than the performance tether so it is suitable for use in longer tether configurations. The neutral buoyancy and good flexibility ensures that it does not compromise ROV manouverability.

Negative Tether - 8mm diameter (standard lengths: 76m, 152m, 228m, 305m)

The negative tether is negatively buoyant, making it ideal for operating in deep water environments, or areas with snagging hazards near the surface of the water. It also has the best power performance of the 3 tether types making it ideal for use in long tether configurations.

Micron http://www.atlantasmarine.com/htm/product/details/micron_scanning_sonar

If the new generation of very small and low cost ROV are to develop their full potential it is essential they are equipped with the vital tools and sensors expected on larger ROV. Along with the camera, the most important sensor for any ROV is its obstacle avoidance sonar.

The Tritech Micron DST (Digital Sonar Technology) Sonar sets new standards in compact sonar technology. It is the smallest digital CHIRP sonar in the world. CHIRP technology dramatically improves the range resolution compared with conventional sonars - it is a feature normally associated with much larger, more expensive systems.

Based on experience gained from Tritech's world class range of industry standard SeaKing and SeaPrince sonars, the Micron DST Sonar incorporates the most advanced acoustic features and software available today.

The Micron DST Sonar can be controlled by a customer supplied PC or laptop and it can be configured for either RS232 or RS485 protocols. The sonar has a standard auxiliary port to allow it to interface with other Tritech sensors.

The Micron DST Sonar incorporates the very latest surface mounted digital electronics and many software features normally found only on full sized commercial sonar systems. Tritech believe that although the Micron DST Sonar is small in both size and cost it should offer the full range of functionality expected from a professional sonar product.

Nauticast AIS (Class A) http://www.atlantasmarine.com/htm/product/details/nauticast_ais
Nauticast has taken AIS technology further and fully explored its unifying properties and diverse application possibilities. The underlying principle of AIS technology lies in the provision and receipt of data from multiple sources. The Transponder sends, receives and processes own vessel, other vessel, and shore-based navigation data at as well as distributing it to all participants of an AIS network.

The Nauticast is perfectly cut out for bridge integration. It blends in neatly thanks to its compact design – it’s the world of AIS, held in one hand! The Nauticast stays in the background, automatically and continuously transmitting vessel type, course, destination, cargo and more. It is thoroughly unobtrusive, yet remains continuously on the alert - only demanding attention when an alarm or error message requires action. The system includes the innovative 3-in-1 Graphical Display with 3 different views at a fingertip: Alphanumeric, Radar View and Fairway View. This representation of the surrounding traffic scenario also with different zoom-levels is a completely unique way of capturing and representing vessel data.

The Nauticast Transponder fully corresponds to the technical specifications for the Universal Automatic Identification System (AIS) Transponder, issued by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

The Nauticast Transponder is specifically designed for commercial shipping, e.g. for vessels which are subject to the SOLAS regulations.

Nauticast AIS (Class B) http://www.atlantasmarine.com/htm/product/details/nauticast_ais_class_b The Nauticast-B transponder is a plug and play AIS solution. Enjoy the benefits of the AIS system knowing larger commercial vessels are aware of your position increasing your personal safety while navigating at sea.

Unlike receive only AIS devices which do not transmit vessel information to surrounding traffic, the Nauticast-B system allows you to virtually participate in neighboring vessels maneuvering activities for collision avoidance. Announce your identity, position, speed and course over ground to oncoming traffic allows for increased security that you will be seen in low visibility conditions.

Avoid not being seen because of extreme weather conditions or busy vessel traffic environments. Generate a safety distress message to surrounding AIS equipment, including vessels, base-stations, and possibly SAR teams. All in all, it is a horizon expanding experience; especially in combination with an electronic chart system.

Satamatics LRIT http://www.atlantasmarine.com/htm/product/details/satamatics_lrit The SAT-201i-LRIT is designed to fully comply with the IMO's mandatory SOLAS V/19-1, Long Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) Regulations. These regulations state that vessels over 300 gross tonnes – venturing in international waters – must send a minimum of four messages a day to their designated flag authority, identifying:

  • Ship ID
  • Ship Position
  • Date and time of the ship position

All vessels must have compliant equipment installed by their first radio survey in 2009.

SAT-201i-LRIT is the lowest cost stand-alone solution available today, ideal for those vessels that either do not have compliant equipment or the cost of upgrading existing equipment is prohibitive. The equipment utilises the Inmarsat IsatM2M protocol which is one of the most cost-effective satellite services on the market and therefore ensures complete compliance at the lowest cost for both the vessel operator and the Flag State.

SAT-201i-LRIT is pre-configured out-of-the-box ready for LRIT operation and is sold as a complete package, all necessary installation equipment is included in the price, ensuring no further outlay is required for hardware.

Why choose SAT-201i-LRIT?

  • Fully compliant with the SOLAS V19-1 regulations for Long Range Identification & Tracking (LRIT)
  • Proven technology
  • Lowest cost standalone solution available today – no hidden extras
  • Easy to install
  • Low profile for discreet installation
  • Inmarsat IsatM2M protocol
  • Seamless global coverage across all ocean regions

What are the IMO’s SOLAS Regulations V/19-1?

The SOLAS Regulations V/19-1 for Long Range Identification & Tracking (LRIT) is a mandatory requirement for high speed craft and cargo ships weighing over 300 gross tonnes. These regulations state that a minimum of one position report must be sent every six hours to a Flag Authority, identifying the vessel, its position and the time of the position.

An estimated 50,000 vessels/ships worldwide will have to comply with this legislation, with a deadline for compliance of 31st December 2008. All ships constructed after this date will have LRIT capability built in. All existing vessels will need to purchase a solution to ensure they are compliant by the deadline.

Satamatics SSAS - Ocean Alert Mk III http://www.atlantasmarine.com/htm/product/details/satamatics_ssas Satamatics Ocean Alert MKIII is based on the proven technology of the SAT-201i, replacing the SAT-201 unit that formed the basis of the previous solution. This satellite terminal is the smallest IsatM2M transceiver on the market, making the unit both discreet and compact.

This solution fully complies with all SOLAS XI-2/6 and provides global coverage and fully automatic roaming across all the world's ocean regions. Its low power consumption and proven network reliability make it a cost-effective, low-maintenance, end-to-end solution for today's ship security requirements.

Ocean Alert software upgrade ensures full LRIT compliance

Existing Ocean Alert satellite terminals can also with a simple software upgrade fulfil Long Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) compliance in line with the International Maritime Organisations (IMO), SOLAS V19-1 regulations.

The Ocean Alert solution was futureproof designed ensuring a single piece of equipment would fulfil the requirements of both LRIT and SSAS regulations. Avoiding the need for vessel operators to source new hardware and ensures compliance at a low cost.

The equipment will automatically identify the type of message to be sent, either LRIT or SSAS, and automatically mark if for the correct destination, thus ensuring that it is successfully delivered to either the Flag State for LRIT or the vessel operator for SSAS.

Comprehensive Tracking and Security Monitoring

Ocean Alert combines location tracking with security monitoring. The system will automatically transmit a ship's precise location to the fleet operating company at customer-defined intervals - typically every 6 hours - via Satamatics' worldwide telematics network, while also monitoring the multiple security-alert activation buttons that can be deployed around a vessel. In an emergency situation, triggering any of the covert activation points will immediately transmit automatic SMS text and email alert messages, to the fleet operator's chosen points of contact and to the flag state appointed authority. Once triggered, Ocean Alert will automatically increase the position reporting frequency to every 30 minutes until the emergency has been resolved - this allows a ship's precise location to be tracked, identifying which alert activation point has been triggered, and reporting any tampering with the external power supply.

Satamatics' user-friendly web interface also allows fleet managers to nominate contact names, mobile phone numbers and email addresses to receive the automatic alert notifications. These can include emergency-alert activations and power supply interruptions, as well as exception reports - for example, when a vessels moves outside a pre-determined zone, reaches a particular destination or a hatch is opened without authorisation.

As part of Satamatics service, all Ocean Alert systems send an "over-the-air" test message once a day, informing chosen individuals that the system is working correctly. This gives users confidence in our solutions as they know their Ocean Alert is in working order.

Additionally, users can add to their solution web-based mapping. This gives users the option of viewing their entire fleet of ships on a world map or alternatively zoom into an individual vessel's precise location.

Advanced Terminal Technology

Sealed and certified to IP66 for operation above decks in heavy seas, Ocean Alert’s compact and concealable omni-directional antenna has a "look angle" of elevation less than five degrees above the horizon, ensuring unrivalled levels of operation.

To ensure there is no interruption to service all Ocean Alert solutions have an integrated back-up battery that will automatically switch into action if there is an interruption in power supply, malicious or accidental. The terminal will immediately broadcast a message stating there is a problem and will switch into "power-saving" mode, while continuing to monitor the covert activation points for further tampering.

SeaKing Towfish http://www.atlantasmarine.com/htm/product/details/seaking_towfish

The Tritech SeaKing Towfish Side Scan Sonar System is an extremely compact and low cost high definition side scan sonar system. The Towfish side scan sonar is designed for a wide range of seabed survey and inspection duties.

The SeaKing Towfish Sonar is available with two operating frequencies. The high frequency 675kHz side scan sonar has the greatest resolution and a useful range out to 75 metres on either side of the survey tow track. The mid frequency 325kHz side scan sonar has a useful range in excess of 200 metres either side.

The towfish sonar is designed to tow cleanly and with excellent stability under all towing conditions. The towfish body is fitted with durable Polycarbonate stabiliser fins. In the event of ground contact, the fins will break away from the sonar body and are retained for recovery by a shock cord line.

The towfish side scan sonar has a weak link and safety recovery line. If the towfish hits an obstruction the weak link will part but the sonar will not be lost. The towfish side scan sonar is small and light and may be manually deployed and operated by a single person from very small boats thus making it ideal for inshore and coastal applications.

In common with all Tritech sonar systems, the SeaKing Towfish Side Scan Sonar may be connected to a Seanet SCU surface control and display unit or most standard laptops and PC's. In addition to the display of side scan sonar data, the system will take position input from DGPS. This information is recorded with the side scan sonar data to allow a 'fix' of a target.

All data produced by the towfish side scan sonar system is processed within the towfish and transmitted to the surface in digital format. All data from the sonar may be stored on the built-in zip drive, in the Seanet SCU.

Starfish http://www.atlantasmarine.com/htm/product/details/starfish

StarFish is a revolutionary, low cost side scan sonar which produces near photo-quality images of the seabed. Built to a unique, innovative design StarFish is currently the smallest side scan towfish on the market measuring less than 15 inches long!

Since the first side scan sonars were developed, manufacturers have predominantly focused on a cylindrical or torpedo-shaped towfish body. Research into underwater hydrodynamics has shown that the torpedo-shape many associate with side scan sonars may not be the optimum design.

Today we have created a revolutionary, new tow body challenging these old concepts and providing several advantages. The compact design and unique shape dramatically improve the stability of the sonar and with it the quality of the seabed images.

The near photo-quality images produced by StarFish make it an affordable, low-cost side scan sonar compared to many larger commercial side scan systems.

The advanced digital CHIRP acoustic techniques used by StarFish offer better range resolution compared to conventional fixed-frequency side scan sonars.

StarFish is truly 'Plug and Play' connecting to your Windows PC or laptop via a USB Port. It out performs many larger commercial systems, yet the intuitive StarFish Scanline software makes it easy to use.

Smallest Towfish Side Scan Sonar available

Pioneering, innovative design

Easily transportable - fits in a small rucksack

Plug and Play USB interface to any Windows PC

Underwater Laser Scanner http://www.atlantasmarine.com/htm/product/details/underwater_laser_scanner When inspecting underwater assets it is critical that precise information is collected to ensure that proper decisions are made. When details matter, the ULS-100 Underwater Laser Scanner outperforms both sonar and video inspection techniques.

  • Fine detail measurement capability
  • Fast measurement acquisition
  • Easily deployable by Diver,  ROV, and AUV

HOW THE ULS-100 WORKS

The head of the sensor sweeps a line of laser light over a surface and obtains measurements to hundreds of points along the line at each position, capturing thousands of points per second.  Combining these measurements results in a high density 3D representation of the underwater asset being scanned.

The user has the ability to measure distances, create reference geometry and adjust the color map of the collected points. Multiple scans can be merged into a single 3D point cloud and exported to standard CAD packages for further work.

VideoRay Pro 4 http://www.atlantasmarine.com/htm/product/details/videoray_pro_4 The VideoRay Pro 4 enhances VideoRay’s position as the fastest and most powerful tether pulling vehicle, with deeper depth rating, hydrodynamic improvements, brushless thrusters and significant improvements to the cameras and lighting.

The Pro 4 submersible features more than twice the vertical thrust of the Pro 3, and 50% greater horizontal thrust.  A depth rating of 300 meters is standard. Improvements in the electronics allow for both greater total tether length (up to 600 meters) and much better power transmission over longer tethers.  New sensors, including a 3D compass and MEMS gyro improve navigational capabilities.  The primary video camera features ultra low light and Wide Dynamic Range, and coupled with the very high intensity LED lighting, the video and stills that can be captured are far clearer - particularly in difficult lighting conditions.  A second externally mounted and fully adjustable camera is also included.

The Pro 4 is part of an industry-wide initiative led by VideoRay (the largest volume ROV manufacturer in the world) to go beyond separate “point” technology solutions to a “systems” approach to solving underwater tasks.  The Pro 4 series ROVs will be sold in configurations such as the PS (Port Security Configuration) and CD (Commercial Dive Configuration) designed to solve a specific or series of underwater tasks, with VideoRay providing single solutions across the many technologies involved.  Systems will be delivered with single-source documentation, training, maintenance, and repair.   Users will be able to concentrate on their underwater missions without concern about how one component is cabled to another, or which is documented where.

Pro 4 System

Pro 4 CD300SE - Commercial Diving

The Pro 4 CD300SE has been specifically configured for Commercial Diving Operations to quickly and effectively perform a variety of inspection and observation tasks. It is delivered with the main components - Submersible, Control Panel, Tether and is ready to accept sensors and accessories such as imaging sonar for low visibility conditions and positioning systems for accurate and reliable inspections. This system also includes a single function micro manipulator.

Pro 4 PS300SE - Port Security

The Pro 4 PS300SE has been specifically configured for Port Security Professionals to quickly and effectively perform a variety of inspection tasks. It is delivered with the main components - Submersible, Control Panel, Tether and is ready to accept sensors and accessories such as imaging sonar for low visibility conditions and positioning systems for accurate and reliable inspections. This system also includes a single function micro manipulator, and Lyyn Hawk video enhancement.

Pro 4 PS300XL - Port Security

The Pro 4 PS300XL has been specifically configured for Port Security Professionals to quickly and effectively perform a variety of inspection tasks. It builds off the Pro 4 PS300SE by integrating the drop and go Smart Tether Positioning System along with the BlueView ProViewer P-900 Imaging Sonar. Mated with the sub, these components comprise one of the most potent and effective underwater inspection / search and recovery tools available. This system also includes a single function micro manipulator, and Lyyn Hawk video enhancement.

High Efficiency Brushless Thrusters

The VideoRay Pro 4’s highly efficient brushless thrusters deliver unparalleled performance and reliability, producing the highest thrust-to-vehicle weight and thrust-to-drag ratios in the industry. Enhanced vertical thrust and pitch-enhanced dive and surface modes get you to and from your working depth quickly, while the ducted hydrodynamic float maximizes efficiency and allows for optimal ROV stabilization.

Motor controllers are tuned for lightning-fast responsiveness. In conjunction with joystick sensitivity and independently adjustable gain these features ensures precision handling and the dexterity to position and hold the ROV exactly where you need it.

Camera Systems

cameraThe VideoRay Pro 4 is equipped with 2 high resolution color cameras. The main camera is located in the forward pressure hull and the second camera can be positioned on top of or underneath the ROV facing in any direction. The forward camera tilts 180 degrees while the second camera tilts 180 degrees and pans 360 degrees providing fully immersive feedback.

Both cameras are equipped with wide dynamic range and backlight compensation to give you the most detailed pictures even in difficult lighting situations. The cameras are optimized for underwater use and offer 0.0001 lux ultra low-light sensitivity by including automatic or manual switching between color and black and white modes. There are more than 20 user controllable settings that can be managed from the surface including an automatic shutter and digital zoom capabilities.

Ultra High Intensity LED Lighting

Industry leading LED lighting provides 3,600 lumens of light with a "turbo boost" option that can kick it up to more than 5,700 lumens if necessary.

The forward light reflectors have been engineered to distribute the light evenly throughout the camera tilt range. Lights are positioned outside the main pressure hull to provide the greatest separation from the camera.  Separation is extremely important in minimizing backscatter which is the reflection of waves, particles, or signals back to the underwater camera.

Internal Sensors

The VideoRay Pro 4 includes enhanced navigation features including a 3D Compass, accelerometer, and a MEMS Rate GYRO for true auto heading and auto pitch.

The VideoRay Pro 4’s internal sensors can detect vital information including temperature and moisture (in the unfortunate event of a leak). This proactive information can be essential in reducing downtime while keeping the mission going.

Ergonomic 12 Button Hand Controller

Intuitive and ergonomic VideoRay controls allow you to pilot the ROV instinctively and comfortably. No specialized training is required for basic operations.

Complete ROV control, including recording of still images and video is available through the hand controller. Additional functions and custom configurations can be added using the programmable feature of the 12-button industrial hand controller.

Hydrodynamics

The VideoRay Pro 4 features a hydrodynamic float block which provides superior stability in high current and enhances maneuverability with a large payload.

Integrated MIL SPEC Toughbook PC

The VideoRay Pro 4 is integrated with a rugged MIL SPEC (Military Specification) Toughbook PC that performs a multitude of critical functions. Not only is it the heart of the control box, it performs as a second monitor along with the integrated 15 inch color display, controls all sensor and accessory functions, runs the PC Pilot software, captures and stores digital MPEG or WMV formatted video and photographic still JPEGS, and allows the user to customize the piloting experience. The communications protocol to the submersible is RS-485. The PC fits neatly into the rugged Pelican 1550 case and can operate independantly if needed.
