Satamatics Ocean Alert MKIII is based on the proven technology of the SAT-201i, replacing the SAT-201 unit that formed the basis of the previous solution. This satellite terminal is the smallest IsatM2M transceiver on the market, making the unit both discreet and compact.
This solution fully complies with all SOLAS XI-2/6 and provides global coverage and fully automatic roaming across all the world's ocean regions. Its low power consumption and proven network reliability make it a cost-effective, low-maintenance, end-to-end solution for today's ship security requirements.
Ocean Alert software upgrade ensures full LRIT compliance
Existing Ocean Alert satellite terminals can also with a simple software upgrade fulfil Long Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) compliance in line with the International Maritime Organisations (IMO), SOLAS V19-1 regulations.
The Ocean Alert solution was futureproof designed ensuring a single piece of equipment would fulfil the requirements of both LRIT and SSAS regulations. Avoiding the need for vessel operators to source new hardware and ensures compliance at a low cost.
The equipment will automatically identify the type of message to be sent, either LRIT or SSAS, and automatically mark if for the correct destination, thus ensuring that it is successfully delivered to either the Flag State for LRIT or the vessel operator for SSAS.
Comprehensive Tracking and Security Monitoring
Ocean Alert combines location tracking with security monitoring. The system will automatically transmit a ship's precise location to the fleet operating company at customer-defined intervals - typically every 6 hours - via Satamatics' worldwide telematics network, while also monitoring the multiple security-alert activation buttons that can be deployed around a vessel. In an emergency situation, triggering any of the covert activation points will immediately transmit automatic SMS text and email alert messages, to the fleet operator's chosen points of contact and to the flag state appointed authority. Once triggered, Ocean Alert will automatically increase the position reporting frequency to every 30 minutes until the emergency has been resolved - this allows a ship's precise location to be tracked, identifying which alert activation point has been triggered, and reporting any tampering with the external power supply.
Satamatics' user-friendly web interface also allows fleet managers to nominate contact names, mobile phone numbers and email addresses to receive the automatic alert notifications. These can include emergency-alert activations and power supply interruptions, as well as exception reports - for example, when a vessels moves outside a pre-determined zone, reaches a particular destination or a hatch is opened without authorisation.
As part of Satamatics service, all Ocean Alert systems send an "over-the-air" test message once a day, informing chosen individuals that the system is working correctly. This gives users confidence in our solutions as they know their Ocean Alert is in working order.
Additionally, users can add to their solution web-based mapping. This gives users the option of viewing their entire fleet of ships on a world map or alternatively zoom into an individual vessel's precise location.
Advanced Terminal Technology
Sealed and certified to IP66 for operation above decks in heavy seas, Ocean Alert’s compact and concealable omni-directional antenna has a "look angle" of elevation less than five degrees above the horizon, ensuring unrivalled levels of operation.
To ensure there is no interruption to service all Ocean Alert solutions have an integrated back-up battery that will automatically switch into action if there is an interruption in power supply, malicious or accidental. The terminal will immediately broadcast a message stating there is a problem and will switch into "power-saving" mode, while continuing to monitor the covert activation points for further tampering.
