Satamatics LRIT

Sat 201

The SAT-201i-LRIT is designed to fully comply with the IMO's mandatory SOLAS V/19-1, Long Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) Regulations. These regulations state that vessels over 300 gross tonnes – venturing in international waters – must send a minimum of four messages a day to their designated flag authority, identifying:

All vessels must have compliant equipment installed by their first radio survey in 2009.

SAT-201i-LRIT is the lowest cost stand-alone solution available today, ideal for those vessels that either do not have compliant equipment or the cost of upgrading existing equipment is prohibitive. The equipment utilises the Inmarsat IsatM2M protocol which is one of the most cost-effective satellite services on the market and therefore ensures complete compliance at the lowest cost for both the vessel operator and the Flag State.

SAT-201i-LRIT is pre-configured out-of-the-box ready for LRIT operation and is sold as a complete package, all necessary installation equipment is included in the price, ensuring no further outlay is required for hardware.

Why choose SAT-201i-LRIT?

What are the IMO’s SOLAS Regulations V/19-1?

The SOLAS Regulations V/19-1 for Long Range Identification & Tracking (LRIT) is a mandatory requirement for high speed craft and cargo ships weighing over 300 gross tonnes. These regulations state that a minimum of one position report must be sent every six hours to a Flag Authority, identifying the vessel, its position and the time of the position.

An estimated 50,000 vessels/ships worldwide will have to comply with this legislation, with a deadline for compliance of 31st December 2008. All ships constructed after this date will have LRIT capability built in. All existing vessels will need to purchase a solution to ensure they are compliant by the deadline.
